Mari Kekäle’s home is full of carefully considered details and interior elements. We got the chance to take a peek inside her home, where some of the décor pieces have been fully customised to suit her personal style.
Your home is beautiful. Why did you decide to order a customized mirror?
We’ve ordered custom mirrors from Glassfactory for almost every home we’ve lived in, and this time was no different – we wanted a mirror that would be exactly the right size for us. I love the possibility of creating something individual, as it gives me freedom to design a piece that truly matches our needs.
We chose dimensions that allow the same mirror to work in several spaces within our home. That way, we can easily move it around if we want to. The custom mirror fits perfectly in our bedroom, living room, dressing room, and hallway.

Did you already have a vision of the mirror, or did your ideas change during the process?
I had a clear idea of what we needed: timelessness and simplicity. Choosing the actual mirror was still difficult, though, because there were so many beautiful options available.
At the moment, the mirror is in our living room, where it brings wonderful brightness and spaciousness. But once our youngest child moves into their own room and we free up more space, the mirror will probably move into our bedroom yoga corner.
We currently have nine different frame options. Did you have a hard time choosing the right one?
Yes, I debated between the oak frame and the black frame. In the end, we chose black, as it adds just the right amount of contrast to our otherwise light-toned décor.

Was it easy to order a custom mirror?
The whole process was very smooth and straightforward. Just a few emails, and soon the mirror was delivered directly to our home.
Did the mirror arrive quickly?
Yes, it arrived very quickly, and everything went seamlessly from ordering to agreeing on the delivery time.

How was the installation?
The mirror hasn’t been installed on the wall yet, as we might move it later, so for now it’s leaning against the wall. But based on our previous experiences, I know the installation is easy. The mirror always comes with everything you need, from mounting plates to screws.
How does the living room feel now with a mirror customized to your wishes?
Not only is the mirror practical – we really needed a proper full-length mirror – but it also works as a stylish interior element, giving the room that final touch. It brings more light and a sense of spaciousness. The whole living room feels renewed now that we can see it from a fresh perspective through the mirror.

What advice would you give to someone considering ordering a custom mirror?
Consider the mirror’s purpose and the style that best suits your own space. Don’t hesitate to make use of Glassfactory’s expertise either, especially if you’re unsure about measurements or which option to choose.
I also always encourage people to consider longevity. Timeless, versatile pieces will serve you for years to come. At its best, a carefully designed and well-made mirror can move from home to home – and even from one generation to the next.
The Slimline mirror is available made-to-measure up to 200 × 240 cm, with nine different frame options. You can choose it with backlighting, colour-changing LED lights, or without lighting.
The mirror in Mari Kekäle’s home measures 100 × 200 cm, features a black frame, and has no lighting.
